Iran’s Foreign Minister Muhammad Javad Zarif wants the US to make a speedy return to the 2015 nuclear agreement.
Iran’s parliament has passed legislation in recent times that force the Iranian government to take a stricter stance against nuclear program if the US sanctions are not eased by February 2021.
“Time is running out for the Americans, both because of the parliament bill and the election atmosphere that will follow the Iranian New Year.” Javad Zarif said in an interview with Hamshahri newspaper.
In December 2020, the Iranian parliament passed the legislation that set a two months deadline for the US government to ease the sanctions.

In 2018, the Trump administration has left the agreement and put sanctions on Iran by saying that the nuclear deal is “decaying and rotten”. The US government said at that time the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) contained major flaws and Iran is benefiting from those flaws.
In response to the US sanctions, the Iranian government resumed enriching uranium to 20% at its underground Fordow nuclear plant.
Iran is increasing pressure on the newly elected US government, the Biden administration to lift the illegal sanctions before returning or discussing the nuclear deal.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken discussed Iran on Friday in a virtual meeting with his British, French, and German counterparts as the group weighed how to revive the deal.
“The more America procrastinates, the more it will lose…., it will appear that Mr. Biden’s administration does not want to rid itself of Trump’s failed legacy.” Zarif said in an interview.
This will also show that the new US administration has not distanced itself from its predecessor ” and that’s dangerous for the US” Iran’s Foreign Minister further said.

“We don’t need to return to the negotiation table. It’s America that has to find the ticket to come to the table”, Zarif said.
“The E3 and the US discussed how a united approach could address our shared concern towards Iran”, British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab.
French Foreign Minister Jean Yves Le Drian described the talks as an “important conversation on Iran and handling nuclear and regional security challenges together.”

US State Department spokesperson Ned Price told reporters that the US is “prepared to walk the path of diplomacy-if Iran resumes that full compliance” with the nuclear deal.

“Stopping support…. for the Saudi coalition, if not a political manoeuvre, could be a step towards correcting past mistakes”, Iran Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh said.
Analysis:
Iran is putting more pressure on the newly elected US government to return to the nuclear deal as soon as possible. And the Biden administration is making its efforts to discuss the matter with other major participants of the nuclear deal before returning or making any move.
It is a good step forward from the US government to end the long standing war support to the Saudi Arabia. It will also help the revival of peace in the Middle East.
