Russian Navy can carry out ‘unpreventable strike’, Putin says

The Russian navy can detect any enemy and launch an “unpreventable strike” if needed. President Vladimir Putin said on Sunday (25 July) last month. The statement came weeks after a Britain’s warship angered Moscow by passing the Crimea Peninsula. According to Reuters

The Russian navy has the capability to detect and engage any target in the sea. The statements are based on the incident that happened a few weeks ago when the UK’s destroyer ship violated Russian waters

“We are capable of detecting any underwater, above-water, airborne enemy, and if required, carry out an unpreventable strike against it.” Putin said while speaking at a navy day parade in St Petersburg.

A few weeks ago, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed that a British HMS Destroyer entered the territorial waters of the Russian Federation in the Black Sea near Cape Fiolent. In response, Russia had fired warning shots and dropped bombs in the path of the British ship to force it out of the country’s territory.

While the UK’s Defense Ministry rejected the Russian claim. “No warning shots have been fired at HMS Defender. The Royal Navy ship was conducting innocent passage through Ukrainian territorial waters in accordance with international law.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin also said that we could have sunk the British warship without starting World War lll because those doing it know that they could not emerge as victors from such a war. According to Reuters

Analysis:

Russia is surely angry at the move of its adversaries. The aggressive statement from the Russian side shows how serious they are about the British violation of their territorial waters.

The West must take the matter seriously and don’t let the peace go down, leading us to world war lll.
